About the author

The author has extensive experience living and working in China–the world’s largest producer of cultured freshwater pearls.   During her time there, she had ample opportunity to take classes on pearls and frequent the local pearl markets and she developed a certain degree of expertise in the evaluation of pearls as well as sharply honed bargaining skills!
